Tuba or Palm Wine

Popularly known as “tuba” in the Philippines, palm wine is a common drink of the local folks in the provinces and barrios. It is created from the sap of coconut trees. The “mananggete” or tuba-gatherer climbs up the tree and fastens the bamboo container to the cut flower stems where the sweet sap comes out. People usually add “tungog” or red coloring to the sap to make it look more attractive.
