Did you know that alcoholism is a disease?

Yes, it is, and people born of alcoholic parents actually carry in their genes a pre-disposition to alcoholism.

It’s easy to be skeptical about this. After all, this fact could be used as an excuse by every other person on the planet from becoming an alcohol or drug abuser. How convenient it would be to just blame the aberrant gene, or even better nonchalantly say, “I can’t help it. It’s my parents’ fault.”
