Not By Dieting Alone

Research continues to confirm that exercise makes weight loss easier. Working out burns calories while you do it. And activity boosts your metabolism for hours afterward. Now a University of Chicago has found that people who combine aerobic exercise with calorie restriction are better able to comply with their eating plan. Exercising makes you feel as if you’ve got more invested in your weight-loss program, and therefore you’re more motivated to follow your diet. To get started, try 10 to 20 minutes of moderate aerobics (such as brisk walking) three times a week. Starting slowly makes it easier to incorporate exercise into your life. Just be sure to get a doctor’s O.K. before you begin.
