This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.
I don’t know if you already know the issue between Walgreens and Express Script but if you don’t know it yet, let me enlighten you. Walgreens is no longer part of the Express Script network of prescription providers! Why is that, you might ask. The negotiations that took place before their contract expired last December 31st were unsuccessful. Now those who are used to getting their prescriptions filled at Walgreens or at Duane Reade pharmacies in the New York City area will have to change pharmacies or if they want to stick it out with Walgreens, then they can opt out of the Express Script network and join the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club instead.
What is the club all about? Well, just what the name suggests, savings on prescriptions filled. But it is a membership club so there are fees involved. Fear not as it is very affordable! For a mere $10 a year, families can pay for membership that will include everyone in the immediate family plus spouse and dependents who are 22 and younger as well as pets. For individuals, it’s $5 a year. Prices of prescription medicines are discounted so significant savings for a year is the number one benefit. There is also the fact that most Walgreens branches are open 24 hours so scheduling filling up your prescriptions is easier.
